Sterling Pond Trail at Smugglers’ Notch

The Sterling Pond trail is located in the Smuggler’s Notch, only a few minutes drive from Mount Mansfield in Stowe Vermont (Lamoille county) which the highest peak in Vermont.

The Sterling Pond trail intersects with Vermont’s Long Trail system, “the oldest long-distance hiking trail in the United-States, a 272 mile footpath that follows the main ridge of the Green Mountains from the Massachusetts-Vermont state line to the Canadian border.”

Hikers of all categories enjoy the climb which culminates with the magnificent view of the pond.
