The Trail

What I love about this trail is how it immerses you in nature. Look around—you’ve got soft moss carpeting the ground, babbling brooks weaving through the  forest, and a cool, refreshing breeze. It’s the perfect hike if you’re looking for something easy and family-friendly but still absolutely stunning.

Once you begin the ascent, you’ll know you are getting close.

The Waterfalls

And there it is! Moss Glen Falls, Vermont’s tallest and most picturesque waterfalls. It stands about 85 feet tall. The main drop is the most dramatic, but the little trickles down the sides add to the overall charm.

For the more adventurous, the trail continues uphill, hugging the river with steep drop-offs that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Watch your step as the trail is crisscrossed with the intricate root systems of the surrounding trees, adding both character and a bit of a challenge to the hike.

Moss Glen Falls is a perfect example of what makes Vermont’s natural areas so special. It’s secluded, serene, and absolutely stunning year-round. Whether you come in the fall when the foliage is blazing with color, or in the spring when the falls are at their fullest, this place never disappoints

The falls are fed by a tributary of the North Branch Lamoille River, which weaves its way through the forest, forming small pools and cascades as it descends.

Echoes of Silence

It’s so refreshing just being here. The water is crystal clear, and the quiet of the forest makes this a perfect place to unwind. It’s one of those spots that make you appreciate the simple beauty of nature and on quieter days, you might even have it all to yourself.

If you ever find yourself near Stowe or the central Vermont area, make sure to add Moss Glen Falls to your list. It’s a quick hike, but the beauty of the waterfall will stay with you long after you’ve left.
