El Cozumeleño Beach Resort is an all-inclusive hotel located on the beautiful island of Cozumel.
The hotel is only a few minutes’ drive from the airport and town of San Miguel de Cozumel.
Check-In
Check-in is rather efficient and well organized and the hotel staff is very friendly. A cold drink is provided during check-in.
Restaurants
The à la carte restaurant, La Veranda, serves an assortment of Italian food. Plates are well presented and, in our opinion, the food is good.
To start your day on the right note, make sure to include a stop at the buffet bar for your morning coffee prepared by Matteo.
Although choice is somewhat limited at the buffet, food is always plentiful and generally savory especially when adding Jalapeños and spicy salsa.
Breakfast was our favorite meal.
The buffet seating area overlooks the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea.
Rooms
Our first room was musty but we were transferred to room #1516, which was more acceptable. The rooms are quite spacious, however, they would greatly benefit from some updating. Wifi service is spotty at best in this room but works well near the lobby.
The view from this room is incredible. It is worth noting that most of the rooms offer ocean view or at least partial ocean view where you will be able to watch breathtaking sunsets.
Activities
Entertainment at the resort is minimal. There are no nightly shows. The snorkeling and beach area more than makes up for this. The hotel also offers spa services.
Hotel Grounds
The main pool has a swim up bar and an adjacent hot tub. The secondary pool has a children’s corner an also has an adjacent hot tub.
If you miss playing golf, you can practice your putting skills at the mini golf.
Are you craving for a coconut? Just ask Eddy or Moises and they will gladly try to find one for you.
Beach
Should you get hungry on the beach, Carlos or one of the other friendly waiters will gladly bring you a selection of food and drinks right to your palapas.
The beach area is very beautiful although somewhat limited considering the number of rooms. The left section of the beach is somewhat rocky, but water shoes are not necessary when entering the waters from the sandy area near the palapas.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling at the resort’s beach is great. On most days, the water is crystal clear. We saw a wide variety of fish. Don’t forget to do your part and pick up an pieces of trash that you may see while snorkeling. It is remarkable to witness all this marine life within the hotel’s cordoned off swim area.
All in all, El Cozumeleño Beach Resort is a great place to stay if, like me, you enjoy snorkeling.
