Today, we hike the beautiful coastline from the Club Amigo Los Corales and Carisol hotels to the pristine Playa Cardenero beach, located close to the Baconao lagoon and surrounded by the magnificent Gran Piedra mountain range in Santiago only a few miles from Guantanamo Bay.

The area was hard hit by Hurricane Sandy back in 2012 which destroyed many of the area’s infrastructures, houses and crops.

Santiago is best known as the birthplace of Fidel Castro’s revolution and is also where the Bacardi Rum empire originates from.
