Ausable Chasm, the Adirondacks’ Grand Canyon

Join us on our most recent adventure as we explore the many beauties of Ausable Chasm.

Did you know that it is arguably known as the “Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks”?  The chasm was slowly sculpted by the running waters of the Ausable river over hundreds of millions of years.

We enjoy the magnificent views provided by the steep cliffside as we hike the winding trail that follows the chasm.  As we progress down the path to the midway point through the chasm, we then transition to our choice of raft or tube and gently float down the waters and ride the rapids in the raft.

If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, why not take the Adventure Trail?  Climbing and crossing a succession of cable bridges and edge walks, this adventure trail will offer you a very unique perspective of the chasm.

While there, we also take a little bit of time to marvel at the beauty of Rainbow Falls, which is adjacent to the site.

Ausable Chasm is located only a few miles from Plattsburgh in the state of New York.  Should you be coming down from Montreal, the drive is only a little over one hour.

Why not take a leisurely drive with your family?  Go and experience the natural beauty of this incredible natural chasm for yourself!
