Cayo Santa Maria Beach, Cuba

Cayo Santa Maria beach is arguably one of Cuba’s most popular beaches.

Without delay, we start our walk on Cayo Santa Maria beach.

Straightaway, we are in awe as we feel the soft powdery white sand between our toes.

Likewise, the turquoise blue waters mesmerize us as with each step that we take.

Moreover, the gentle sea breeze cools us down as the sunrays glisten on our skin.

During most of our stay there, the waters were quite calm and pleasant.

The 4.5 mile (7 kilometer) long beach is lined with palapas at each of the numerous hotels.

Pretty much everywhere on Cayo Santa Maria beach, the gentle slope of the sand invites us into the shallow waters for a refreshing dip in the warm Atlantic ocean waters.

In the distance, if you are lucky like we were, you may just spot a pod of dolphins swimming by.

Indeed, the coastline is lined with an impressive number of all inclusive resorts.

Notably, as we walk along the coast line, we pass in front of (in order):

  • Hotel Sol Cayo Santa Maria
  • Melia Cayo Santa Maria
  • Hotel Melia Las Dunas
  • Playa Cayo Santa Maria
  • Starfish Cayo Santa Maria
  • Royalton Cayo Santa Maria
  • Memories Paraiso Beach Resort
  • Grand Memories Cayo Santa Maria
  • Sanctuary at Grand Memories Cayo Santa Maria

Additionally, should you find some plastic or trash floating on the waters, make sure to pick it up and put it in the trash once you are back on firm land.

By the same token, should you not be comfortable venturing on a “clothing optional” beach, I recommend that you not venture further than the Sol Cayo Santa Maria hotel.
